From vegan-friendly toys to vibrators made from ocean plastic, here are the brands pushing the industry in a more sustainable direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Natural Love Company<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cornwall-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenaturallovecompany.com\/?_gl=1*1t9x1tb*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw2rrQBhBuEiwAarLWHQOz6NRU8j6-eWYU4O_XojOio-T3ngDVZkUepgAxlCy2SC-SeXNMfhoCaD8QAvD_BwE&amp;gbraid=0AAAAACsLtpnv_yBALZiDBcE1w5HBqQxgs\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.thenaturallovecompany.com\/?_gl=1*1t9x1tb*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw2rrQBhBuEiwAarLWHQOz6NRU8j6-eWYU4O_XojOio-T3ngDVZkUepgAxlCy2SC-SeXNMfhoCaD8QAvD_BwE&amp;gbraid=0AAAAACsLtpnv_yBALZiDBcE1w5HBqQxgs\">Natural Love Company<\/a> creates eco-friendly luxury sex toys designed to feel as normal to buy as anything else in your bathroom cabinet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Founded by friends Barney Walters and Ben Foster, the brand set out to reshape the way people think about the category entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" data-src=\"https:\/\/pomegranatemag.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/05\/BEN-BARNEY-1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-778 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 683px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 683\/1024;\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ben Foster (left) and Barney Walters (right)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTwo men in their mid-twenties starting a sex toy brand was quite the laughing matter around the family dinner table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut the industry had a negative connotation and felt very taboo. There wasn\u2019t a very open conversation around it,\u201d Barney said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being a long-time vegan, Walters saw an opportunity to bring in the environmental values he already prioritised in everyday life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I come from a mindset of sustainability, whether that&#8217;s recycling, reusing, or veganism. So as the company grew, it felt natural to bring those values into it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The brand has since built out a considered environmental offering: plastic-free packaging, natural materials, a partnership with The Vegan Society, and a tree planted with every product sold.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2022, all best-selling products have been made with a recycled ocean plastic internal core and smooth silicone covering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Their &#8216;Second Coming&#8217; scheme also allows customers to send back old sex toys, of any brand, for free recycling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walters believes this kind of commitment will soon become the industry baseline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Sustainability sits on a spectrum. Ten years ago a lot of companies weren&#8217;t even on it. Now most brands are somewhere along that line and consumers expect them to be.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ohhcean<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ohhcean.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/ohhcean.com\/\">Ohhcean<\/a> takes a similarly material-first approach &#8211; turning ocean-bound plastic into sex toys through a partnership with recycling organisation #<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tide.earth\/en\/\">tide<\/a>, which collects plastic waste from coastal regions and landfills before processing it into usable material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The resulting range &#8211; a magic wand, a G-spot vibrator, and a body vibrator &#8211; is made from that reclaimed plastic and finished with a blue shaded, silicone outer layer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"750\" data-src=\"https:\/\/pomegranatemag.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/05\/image-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-817 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/pomegranatemag.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/05\/image-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/pomegranatemag.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/05\/image-1-260x300.jpg 260w, https:\/\/pomegranatemag.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/05\/image-1-610x704.jpg 610w, https:\/\/pomegranatemag.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/60\/2026\/05\/image-1-480x554.jpg 480w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 650px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 650\/750;\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Image Credit: Ohhcean website <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But getting there wasn&#8217;t straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The ocean-bound plastic reacts differently from virgin plastic when melted and put into moulds,&#8221; said product expert, Amina Jenayah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&#8220;It took more testing and time to learn how the material behaved &#8211; which wasn&#8217;t easy, but made it all the more satisfying when we did make a beautiful, safe and pleasure-inducing product.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Jenayah, the appeal of the industry was precisely its potential for impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&#8220;Being in an industry that has the potential to make change seemed like the perfect way to combine a passion for the environment with a passion for inspiring a more playful sex life for everyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the brand&#8217;s longer-term ambition goes beyond materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&#8220;We don&#8217;t produce just to produce,&#8221; she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It&#8217;s incredibly important that what we make is something people enjoy and will enjoy for many years to come.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an industry not known for longevity, durability may be the most radical sustainability statement of all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meet the brands making vibrations more sustainable <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":265,"featured_media":815,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[22,5],"tags":[48,136,133,24,134,135],"class_list":["post-773","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-culture","category-pillar-2","tag-body","tag-eco-friendly","tag-eco-sex-toys","tag-green-sex","tag-sustainable-sex","tag-sustainable-sex-toys"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Meet the brands making pleasure sustainable - Pomegranate<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Within the sex toy industry, a wave of companies are proving that pleasure and planet-consciousness can go hand in hand.
